Canning Orchard derived its name due to its former location on Canning Road in Canning Mills which was first established 77 years ago by Mario Tonusso, Paul’s grandfather.
In 1976, when Paul’s parents took over the orchard, operations took place on Brookton Highway in Karragullen where the orchard remains today.
The property has a good water supply, ideal climate and soil type and Paul is proud to continue growing top quality produce. With 35 acres under orchard with most dedicated to stonefruits, pears and sweet persimmons, a large quantity is sold through Market City.
Paul’s family history in horticulture dates back to his ancestors in northern Italy and its only natural that farming flows through Paul’s blood. Paul’s dedication allows him to strive for excellence everyday, wanting to give fresh produce retailers confidence in his produce and ultimately leading to West Australian consumers enjoying the best produce that Canning Orchard has to offer.
